But, it is a very common problem for the small babies and should be treated otherwise it causes yeast, bacterial infections, digestive problems, food allergies etc. Don’t worry it doesn’t mean that you don’t care your baby but it is due to the prolonged exposure to a dirty diaper which is either moist with urine or dirty with stool.

Ways To Treat Diaper Rashes

1. Don’t Use Baby Wipes

Diaper wipes can more worsen the condition. They cause irritation and even lead to bleeding as well as hurt your baby bottom. You shouldn’t also use a damp paper towel as a substitute of this baby wipes. Though they reduce stinging they still will irritate the rash.

So, avoid using them and instead get some warm water and run them over the bottom of your baby i.e., underneath of the faucet and let the water wash away with slight irritation.

2. Change the Diaper Often

You need to make sure that you change your baby’s diaper often it turns soiled. In this way, baby’s skin will not be exposed to wetness and doesn’t cause any irritation.

Newborn baby’s need very often to change the diapers so, it is necessary for all mothers to check their babies diaper for wetness and change them frequently and especially during nights where your baby wants to stay for long hours in the same diapers if not changed. If you are a busy person and don’t have enough time to change diapers, at least for every 2 hours you need to do it.

3. Keep the Skin Clean and Dry

The skin around the diaper is always prone to bacteria and infections, so it is very important to keep the area clean and it should be done with warm water and a soft cloth or cotton balls. After every diaper, you need to clean the area with warm water and don’t use soaps.

Later clean with soft cloth and use wipes to remove any wetness. Your baby’s skin must be completely clean without any wetness. Make sure that the wipes you use are of good quality and smooth and doesn’t hurt your baby. You can also do as follows.

4. Soothing Warm Bath

Let your baby soak at least for 10 minutes in a bathtub with warm water after every diaper change and you will see amazing results. Here, you don’t need to wash the baby just allow them to play for 10 to 15 minutes in the warm water and this gives a soothing effect to the rash. Later wrap them in a towel and snuggle them. 5. Prevent Irritation

Make sure that you don’t use perfume scented wipes as they may irritate your baby’s skin especially for babies with a quick skin reaction. So, it is better to use unscented or cloth or cotton balls alternative to this scented wipes.

Especially disposable wipes are dangerous in causing skin reactions as they could be either from bleach in the lining or absorbent gel. So, don’t use disposables and change the diapers brand too if it irritates your baby’s skin.

6. Use Creams or Ointments

Barrier ointments also work well and they particularly help in protecting the skin against rashes. Look for creams and diaper ointments that include petroleum jelly or else zinc oxide available in the market. These are the better option than the regular liquids or lotions and they are less irritating to your skin.

It is necessary that you bring only the products designed especially for babies. These creams act as a barrier when applied to the skin and doesn’t allow bacteria to enter and even the air too.  So make sure that your baby is dry enough before you apply the ointment. If required you can also use cream based ointments and they allow the air to reach the skin.

7. Coconut Oil

As a natural remedy, you can also use coconut oil to treat your baby’s diaper rashes through anti-fungal and antibacterial properties of the oil. It even gives soothing as well as healing effect to the baby’s soft skin very soon.

You can gently apply the coconut oil over the diaper area several times a day whenever possible. You can even add it to the bath water which will act as a moisturizer and kills the yeast like Candida that may cause rashes.

8. Breast Milk

One of the best and inexpensive ways to treat these diaper rashes naturally is through breast milk. It aids fight against the infections and soothes your baby’s skin.

With breast milk, there are no allergic reactions which can worsen your condition. So, take few drops of the breast milk and gently massage it over the affected skin as required and allow it dry for some time before you put a new diaper on the baby.

In place of coconut oil, you can also use corn starch, plantain oil or oatmeal etc. All these natural remedies work well to get rid of the diaper rashes soon and inflammation associated with it.
